About 16 years ago, a ministry search firm approached me and asked if I’d be interested in being considered for the CEO position at Star of Hope. I was amazed and my mind began to swirl with the idea.
You see, over the 4-6 months prior, my family and I had been experiencing some homeless encounters on the streets of Houston. That happened several times over the next month or so, and then, one day, I received the call from that search firm about the Star of Hope position.
Looking back, Elisabeth and I believe God was testing our whole family to see if we had the heart for the calling, and I’m so thankful that we did, and that He called us here.
Elisabeth teaches parenting classes at our Cornerstone Community© campus, and our children have volunteered often over these years. And they love this mission very much!
These years have flown by, and God has done amazing things through us all during this sweet time. And thousands of lives have been changed for eternity… and for a better life on this earth because of all He has done through us.
Our new CEO is arriving soon, and the Executive Team and I will work with him to ensure a smooth transition.
So today, let’s all pray for God’s continued guidance and blessing on Star of Hope and that He will be ever-present in your life and mine as we serve Him here.

Hank,
Thanks so much for your leadership in overseeing the growth of Star of Hope Mission over your many years of faithful service! The many programs S of H offers its clients is amazing; giving them the opportunity to resurrect their lives through the dedicated work of staff, volunteers, and through the power of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
God bless you and your family in future endeavors!
May the Lord bless you in your new ventures in life. It was a pleasure to know and serve with you in my tenure at Star of Hope to change the lives of so many men in the Spiritual Recover Program. To this day I communicate with many of the Alumnus and they are the greatest reward for having served there over my 20 year tenure. Now go out and enjoy the years remaining with family, friends and loved ones!
