Recently, we celebrated 47 families moving from Star of Hope Mission‘s Women and Family Development Center at Cornerstone Community® transformational campus into our recently developed and implemented New Heights program. This new program provides permanent supportive housing in cooperation with our agency partner, New Hope Housing at Reed. The New Heights program is focused on families who are homeless and have completed an assessment and qualify for government assistance to help them pay rent. Star of Hope staff provides supportive services to help participants improve life skills, job skills, and lead them down the path of successful, independent living.
Star of Hope staff members were on hand to assist with the initial move and were blessed to see the happy faces of these New Heights program participants as they realized they were HOME … in their own apartments … with furniture, household supplies, and a washer and dryer! One family in particular stood out to our staff members, a single father of two, Ronald.
The moment Ronald and his children were accepted into the New Heights program, he felt a sense of relief, and he is extremely thankful to be living in an apartment. Ronald’s philosophy is “It is a process to progress to success.” Ronald is experiencing this amazing process of growth and stability and feels blessed to have a Star of Hope support system that will help him succeed.
New Heights completes the continuum of care provided by Star of Hope to help families move from crisis situations into long-term recovery programs and ultimately into independent living. This program is the next step in their journey to transform their lives and lead successful independent lives. Thanks to supporters like you, families, like Ronald and his two children, are together, under one roof and putting the pieces of their lives back together again with the help of Star of Hope.
Please pray for our New Heights residents! We are excited to serve them in this brand-new program and walk alongside them on their journey into indepent living.
