Get Help Give Now

There is no challenge that is too great for God. The fear of failing may be our weakness, but thankfully we have God’s strength to get us through tough times. A resident by the name of NaToya, was worried that her journey to success would be too difficult to achieve. But, her will to persevere came from her trust and hope in God. This is her story:

My addiction was taking control of my life. I finally realized that when I almost lost custody of my son. This was my wake-up call. I was hesitant about going to a shelter, because I did not think I could change. But I knew I needed to turn my life around … not just for me but for my son. I had disappointed him so many times, and I knew this time was the last chance I had to make things right. I decided to go to Star of Hope Mission.

When I walked through the door, I knew I was in the right place. I told myself I would do anything to get my life back. So, I joined the New Hope program. I needed the program, because without it I would have lost my son. What was supposed to be a 90-day program turned into a six-month program. I told myself that God still had something for me to get out of the program, so I continued to work hard and stay the course. When I found out I was finally going to graduate, I could not believe it. God saw something in me that I did not see in myself!

The program taught me how to be a better person and how to live a sober life. Now, I am going to take GED classes, then go on to the Personal Development program to gain job and life skills. I would like to give special thanks to Becky, Kenya, and Angela for holding me accountable and giving me hope when I wanted to give up. Also, a big thank you to the New Hope staff, volunteers and donors for your support.

NaToya gave her worries to God, and He gave her strength to make a positive change in her life. Without God and your support, she could have given up. Now, NaToya and her son have a second chance at life, and her relationship with God has grown stronger. Because of you, our residents have hope and are on the path to a brighter future! Thank you!
