As I listen to them, the stories our clients tell have four themes: loss, abandonment, addiction, and abuse. Our clients feel abandoned by society and unseen and tell stories of life that overlooked and passed them by. As Christians, we hear these stories and say, this is not the way life is supposed to be, and we take action.

We believe in the power of hope and transformation at Star of Hope. Our programs provide a safe space where people in need are given the tools to rebuild their lives and find faith in something greater than themselves. For Samantha, her life was transformed with the support of generous individuals like you. This is her story:

If it were not for God, I don’t know if I would be standing here right now. My drug addiction has stolen my life from me time after time and robbed me of everything but the breath I was breathing. I lost everything and became homeless. Well, I got tired of living the way I was, and I needed to change.

I did not know where or how to begin, because living at rock bottom addicted to drugs was the only life I had ever known. And I had burned all my bridges, so I had no one I could call and ask for help. This led me to pray to God and asked Him to save me from the life I was living and begged him to forgive me. I told Him that I did not want to live this way anymore. I asked Him to give me one more chance. And He answered my prayers and has saved my life.

Star of Hope has been a beacon of light in my darkest days. It has not only renewed my faith but also equipped me with the tools for long-term recovery. The spiritual knowledge I’ve gained has brought a deep sense of peace and stability to my life. I feel like I’m standing on solid ground, ready to continue my journey of recovery.

Thanks to Star of Hope, Samantha received the necessary tools to support her recovery and rediscovered her faith in Christ. Our commitment after 117 years, has not changed. Christian conversion is the engine of life change. Your support enabled her to regain stability and begin a new life in Christ, equipped with the knowledge needed to maintain her sobriety and the support to see her through to a flourishing life. Thank you!
