When we are feeling lonely and hopeless, God is there to provide for us. Our darkest moments are when we must choose to seek Him first. Like many of us who have experienced challenging times, Brittney felt she was at a crossroads. She was lost in her pain and turned away from the Lord. Then, she discovered the Star of Hope Mission … this is her story:
My life was completely out of control, an unmanageable mess. My family was raising my three children because I could not get my life together. I can remember days upon days with me sitting in my car feeling alone and hopeless, and the drugs I used to deal with all that pain were not working anymore. I did not want to live, but I did not have the courage to end my own life either.
I wanted to do something different with my life, and that is when I found Star of Hope Mission. I never imagined I would gain this much wisdom and knowledge. Going through Star of Hope’s “New Hope” program has given me a healthy learning environment, a whole new complete set of life skills, tools for setting healthier boundaries, behavioral changes, and personal changes needed to live a life away from addiction. Not a day went by that I did not learn something new to put in my recovery toolbox. This place has given me joy and hope like I have never experienced before.
I am so grateful and thankful for all the staff, donors, recovery sisters, and volunteers who God has placed on my path to help and encourage me on this life-changing opportunity and experience. May God bless all of you.
Brittney found Star of Hope by listening to God’s plan. Through our programs, she was able to find the hope she had been missing in her life. We could not do this without supporters like you, who continue to bring hope to so many.
Thank you for your support of Star of Hope. Through your generous gifts we will continue to serve Houston’s homeless.
