Great things are happening at Star of Hope Mission! The summer will soon be coming to a close and the children in our family centers will be returning from camp before heading back to school in a couple of weeks. Camp for these kids is such a blessing, for many it is their first outdoors experience. When you see a child catch a fish, or ride a horse for the first time and see the smile on his face along with the joy in his voice, it truly warms the heart.
This summer has particular significance for Star of Hope as it marks the last one where our families and single women will reside at our Women & Family Emergency Shelter and Transitional Living Center.
Construction on Star of Hope’s Cornerstone Community℠ transformational campus is progressing rapidly, and is on schedule to be completed in late August. Once completed our families and single women, currently residing at our Women and Family Emergency Shelter downtown and Transitional Living Center, will move to the Women & Family Development Center on the Cornerstone Community℠ campus which will also include a chapel, basketball pavilion, playgrounds and parks.
This is a pivotal project for Star of Hope, and for homeless women and children in Houston! The Christ-centered women and family programs we began more than three decades ago will now be in one location, which will allow us to better serve the needs of this vulnerable population.
