Today marks 114 years since Star of Hope Mission began its life-changing work in 1907! Early in the 20th century, the homeless population was growing in Houston, and there was a dire need for a Christ-centered rescue mission. God had something great in store and used a Baptist minister by the name of Reverend Dennis R. Pevoto to carry out the vision to form Star of Hope Mission. With the help of evangelist Mordecai Ham, Reverend Pevoto chartered the first shelter for homeless men in the city of Houston!
Ever since Star of Hope first opened its doors, it has become a light in the lives of the brokenhearted and has helped the lost and hurting find true life and faith in Jesus Christ! Throughout the years, Star of Hope has continued to thrive and strive to restore lives and reconcile families. Without you and God’s favor this would not be possible! It is a blessing to serve those seeking a clean start, and we are committed to encouraging life change.
Please continue to keep Star of Hope in your prayers as we help the homeless in our great city! God leads each of us here to serve. He uses us to do His work on Earth and point others to Christ. Your support helps us serve those who need it most. Thank you for continuing the legacy of giving hope to Houston’s homeless since 1907!
